Jessica Frankel Singleton was a 25-year-old mother of four, nail technician, and small-business owner remembered for her infectious laugh, enduring faith, and deep love for her family. She loved dancing and playing basketball growing up and later developed a passion for doing nails, eventually starting her own private nail business. Above all, Jessica’s four children were described by her family as the brightest light in her life.

Growing up, Jessica loved to dance and play basketball. She attended Homestead Senior High School before moving to Miramar, Florida, where she attended and graduated from Henry D. Perry Educational Center. During that time, Jessica became interested in becoming a nail technician and eventually started her own private nail business.

Her family remembered Jessica for her infectious laugh, her faith, and the love and compassion she showed the people around her. Her four children — Harmony Singleton, Derrick Williams, Dericka Williams, and DaKari Williams — were at the center of her life. Her family wrote that Jessica passed along to her children the same love, compassion, and wisdom she carried herself.

Jessica was also deeply connected to her mother, Kimberly Harvey Singleton, and her siblings, Marquiesha Singleton, Devontae Harvey, and DeMarrco Singleton. Her family remembered those relationships as strong and deeply loving and described Jessica as someone whose presence left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

INFORMATION LIMITATIONS

Available sources document Jessica’s relationship to Williams, the presence of two of her children during the shooting, and the subsequent criminal investigation. However, they provide limited information about the couple’s relationship history before the homicide. No reviewed source establishes a protective order, prior law-enforcement contact, prior IPV, stalking, threats, coercive control, or other pre-homicide risk indicators. These circumstances remain unknown rather than absent.

TRANSPARENCY / RECORD NOTE

Contemporary reporting identifies Derrick Williams as the father of Jessica’s children and the person accused of fatally shooting her outside her Miramar home. The case was investigated as a domestic violence homicide. Because the sources currently reviewed document Williams’ arrest and charges but do not establish a final judicial disposition, allegations regarding his responsibility should remain attributed to law enforcement unless a later court record establishes an outcome.
