SAFETY PLANNING
Safety isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Safety planning can consider individual circumstances such as living arrangements, children, technology, finances, transportation, pets, work or school, stalking, weapons, medical needs, and separation. It is not a guarantee of safety or a universal checklist.
A safety plan should fit the person’s life—not force their life into a checklist.
PERSONAL SAFETY • CHILDREN • TECHNOLOGY SAFETY • FINANCIAL PREPARATION • DOCUMENTS • PETS • WORKPLACE / SCHOOL • SEPARATION • STALKING
Digital safety deserves its own care.
Internet and device activity may sometimes be monitored. If you are concerned about monitoring, consider accessing sensitive information from a safer device when possible and seek specialized technology-safety guidance.

OUR APPROACH
Resources selected with care.
The Violet Thread brings together support services, advocacy organizations, educational materials, and research to help people find information relevant to their circumstances.
Resources are reviewed for relevance and accuracy as part of an ongoing process. Inclusion does not constitute an endorsement, and services, eligibility, and availability may change.
THOUGHTFULLY GATHERED · CLEARLY PRESENTED
Information is a starting point. Finding support should never depend on knowing exactly where to begin.
Explore the resource library above to find organizations, tools, and support relevant to you.
You don’t have to understand every decision to be a safe person to come to.
Supportive responses can include listening without judgment, believing disclosures, respecting autonomy, helping locate professional support when wanted, and remaining connected when safely possible. Avoid confronting an abusive partner in ways that could increase danger.
KNOWLEDGE → SUPPORT
Knowledge can become a possible next step.
RESEARCH helps document what happened. REMEMBER keeps the person larger than the case. RECOGNIZE helps make patterns visible. RESOURCES helps turn knowledge into possible next steps.
RESOURCE STANDARDS
Trusted resources, clearly identified.
The Violet Thread will prioritize established, credible resources and periodically review public-facing listings for accuracy. The project does not guarantee availability or outcomes from third-party services. A future pathway will allow organizations and users to suggest corrections or additional resources for review.
You do not need to have everything figured out to take one next step.
Remember. Recognize. Break.
Before another name.
Every statistic had a name. Every name had a life.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Quick Exit leaves the current page but does not erase browser history.
