I’M GRIEVING A LOSS

Grief support, victim services, advocacy, and future memorial or family-contribution pathways for loved ones affected by IPV homicide.

Losing someone to intimate partner violence can bring grief that is complicated by trauma, unanswered questions, anger, legal proceedings, media attention, or the circumstances surrounding their death.

There is no correct way to grieve a violent loss. Support may come from people you trust, victim-service professionals, grief counselors, survivor communities, or organizations experienced in traumatic bereavement.

You and your loved one are more than the circumstances of what happened.

IMPORTANT CONTEXT

You deserve support, too. Families and loved ones affected by intimate partner homicide may experience emotional, practical, financial, and legal consequences long after the immediate aftermath. You do not have to navigate those experiences alone. Victim-service and grief-support organizations may be able to help with counseling, advocacy, information, referrals, and other needs depending on your circumstances and location.
