REMEMBER Nancy

Nancy (Barker) Bacon

34 YEARS OLD ·

Ocala,

Florida

Nancy Barker was 34 years old and remembered as a devoted mother, talented artist, dedicated worker, and someone who loved experiencing the world. She worked from home for more than a decade, which allowed her to spend her days close to her young daughter, Eden. Nancy loved traveling and exploring new places—with one requirement wherever she went: there had to be a Starbucks.

Nancy worked as a call center operator for EBG for more than ten years, a job she loved in part because working from home let her stay close to her daughter, Eden.

She was remembered as a wonderful mother and an amazing artist. Nancy also loved to travel and wanted to see as much of the world as she could, jokingly insisting that wherever she traveled needed to have a Starbucks.

Nancy was the daughter of Ola Ivie and sister of Russell Ivie of Ocala. Her extended family included nephews Gage Barker and Vernon Barker, aunts Patty Eastin and Danielle Wilder, and cousins Daphne Harris and Justin Eastin. She also shared a particularly close relationship with her longtime sister/friend Britt Trusgnich and Britt's daughter, Zenobia.

THE RECORD

On February 10, 2026, 34-year-old Nancy Barker and her 4-year-old daughter, Eden Ava Barker Wickramarachchi, were found suffering from gunshot wounds inside Nancy's condominium at the Marion Springs Condominiums in Ocala, Florida.

A neighbor who heard gunshots called 911, and witnesses reported seeing Nancy's estranged ex-husband, Ralph Bacon, leaving the condominium complex. Police identified Bacon as the suspected shooter.

Authorities located Bacon as he traveled north toward the Florida-Georgia border. Georgia authorities were notified and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Police reported that Bacon fatally shot himself before officers could enter his vehicle.

Police stated that Eden was not Bacon's biological daughter. Nancy's mother told WESH that Bacon had been upset that the child was not his.
