RESOURCE ROUTE
I’M AN ADVOCATE OR PROFESSIONAL
Training, research, assessment resources, professional organizations, evidence-informed tools, and referral information.
Professionals working with people affected by intimate partner violence may encounter complex questions involving safety, trauma, risk, autonomy, legal systems, children, housing, health care, and other intersecting needs.
This pathway provides access to professional organizations, training, research, evidence-informed tools, and referral resources that can support practitioners across disciplines.
The Violet Thread is a research and education project and does not replace professional training, clinical judgment, agency protocols, or discipline-specific standards of practice.
IMPORTANT CONTEXT
Risk factors are not prediction tools. The presence or absence of an individual risk factor cannot determine with certainty whether intimate partner homicide will occur. When using research, screening tools, or structured assessments, professionals should consider the purpose and limitations of the instrument, the survivor’s own perception of risk, professional standards, and the broader context in which violence is occurring.
